PREREQUISITES

  • No formal prerequisite for CCIE certification. Students are recommended to have an in-depth understanding of the exam topics and are strongly recommended to have at least eight years of on-job experience before getting into the certification’s exam. Everyone should first clear the CCIE Data Center Written Exam, and then the CCIE Data Center Lab Exam. They must get through the long two-hour, written exam covering concepts and equipment commands related to data center networking infrastructure they are eligible to schedule the lab exam.

CCIE DATA CENTER LAB EXAM

It is a 2-part 8-hour exam that tests the candidate’s expertise in diagnosing, configuring and troubleshooting a complex data center topology. One should give the first attempt of the CCIE Lab Exam within one and a half years of passing this written exam. Students who do not pass must attempt the lab exam within twelve months of their last scored attempt, in order for their written exam to remain valid. They should get through the lab exam within 36 months of clearing the written exam, else the written exam has to be reattempted before retaking the lab exam.
The two parts to the 8-hour lab exam are to be taken in sequence during the day of the exam starting with Part 1, followed by Part 2:
Part 1: Diagnostic module (one hour)
Part 2: Configuration & Troubleshooting module (seven hours)
CCIE Data Center Lab Exam
This is an eight-hour, hands-on exam that needs you to configure and troubleshoot a series of complex networks to given specifications.
As a part of the CCIE Data Center Lab exam, troubleshooting knowledge is an important skill and students are expected to diagnose and solve issues.
